Dhulikhel is a scenic and ancient town situated 30 kilometers east of Kathmandu on the Arniko Rajmarg (Kathmandu-Kodari Highway). It is situated at an altitude of approx. 1600 meters above sea level. It is famous fo rit’s vantage location in viewing the Himalayan rangees and also popular for viewing sunrise and sunset. From the main town, a short visit to Namobuddha, with the stupa and Buddhist Monastery, is highly recommended. Panauti, a village noted ot its numerous temples with magnificent woodcarvings, is a short distance from Dhulikhel.

Activites in Dhulikhel
1. Namodbhuda and Panauti (spiritual circuit). The stupa (Buddhist monument) of Namobhuda is the third holies in Nepal after Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. It is said that the Buddha in a previous life did charity of his own body out of compassion to a hungry tigress that couldn’t feed her cubs. The place has been developing lately and at present there is monasteries where they impart philosophical & meditation teachings, from few hours to several months. Panauti is one of those newari small towns full of spiritual vibrations, where important religious festivals (Melas) are held every 12 years. The complete circuit would take one full day and could include a few hours trek (optional), a presentation of Buddhist meditation at Namobhuda and religious aspect of the Hindu festivities at Panauti.

Hike: You will be hiking with a view of local villages and nice terraces after hiking 3 to 4 hour we will arrive to Namo Buddha a scared Buddhist place where Lord Buddha saved the life of a tiger dying from hunger. You can have a thrilling view of mountains valley and hills and touch of Newari culture.

2. Panauti: is an aqncient village, 32 km south east of Kathmandu situated on the banks of Punyamati river. A leisurely walk through this tiny village will reveal it’s antiquity to the visitors, a must in Panauti is a visit to the 14th century AD Hindu temple of Shiva locally known as Indreswor Mahadev. The wooden struts supporting the temple are splendid example of wood carving of that era, which till date remain unchallenged in the entire Kingdom.

3. Drive to Chinese boarder, Natural Hot Spring and back. – (Full day program).
