01Night / 02 Days Rafting on Bhote Koshi River Itinerary

Rapids:
Gerbil in the plumbing, Frog in a blender, Exlax, The Great Wall, Liquid bliss, Dazed and Confused.

Just four hours away from Kathmandu, the Bhote Koshi is without a doubt the most exciting thing you can do in Nepal and quite possibly one of the best two day rafting trips offered anywhere in the world. The Bhote Koshi is a very steep and continuous mountain stream, a unique combination of exceptionally fun and challenging rapids without ever getting past the point of recreation. Ultimate Descents are proud of their eco-adventure camp at the Borderlands Resort on the Bhote Koshi. Set in eight acress of sprawling terraces right beside the river surrounded by mountains, forests and waterfalls; it is a serene and captivating environment.
Day 1:
Start from Kathmandu early in the morning (06 am) and drive to rafting put in point for approx. 4 hours. Upon arrival at the put in point, which is just below the Dam on the Upper Sunkoshi, 40km south of the Tibetan Border, unload all the gear and prepare for first day’s rafting. The rafting crew will brief you about the techniques you will need to make your trip as exciting but as safe as possible. In the drills, the whitewater floating position and more. Your river adventure will be much more satisfying once ‘Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT)’ internationally certificated river guides, which means that, after two days on the Bhote Koshi, you will be qualified to do rafting anywhere in the world on class IV and V – rapids. Lunch will be served either before the start of the rafting or after couple of hours of rafting downstream, depending on the time.

After a day of rafting and training, we will all drive to Borderlands, an oasis and temple of tranquility nestled in the curves of the flowing rivers and Himalayan foothills. This is a perfect opportunity to take in the view, fresh air, and peace that only nature can offer. Your overnight stay will not feel long enough.

Day 2:
In the morning, everyone packs their gear and gathers for hot drinks and a welcome, hearty breakfast. It’s all action today and we will have 4 to 4 hours (depends on the water level) on the river, experiencing pure whitewater all the way downstream. After a series of class 3 rapids we drop into the first class 4 affectionately known as Gerbil in the Plumbing. From Gerbil there is a stretch of class 3 whitewater and then we come to crux of the day, which is a long, technical rapid called Frog in a Blender (guess who’s the frog). The guides often scout this one, as with changing water levels the ride can become very interesting (Note; the water level must allow to rund this rapid).

After completion of rafting drive back to Kathmandu.
