Flydubai is set to launch direct daily flights between Pokhara and Dubai starting September 23.

Flydubai is set to launch direct daily flights between Pokhara and Dubai starting September 23, following approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The schedule has already been finalized, according to Pokhara International Airport General Manager Jagannath Niraula.

The move comes shortly after Flydubai conducted a high-level inspection of safety, security, and operational readiness at Pokhara International Airport. The approval is seen as a major step toward bringing regular international flights to the airport, which has so far remained limited despite its inauguration in 2023.

Officials and tourism stakeholders believe the new route will significantly boost tourism, expand economic activities, and reduce air traffic pressure on Kathmandu. With direct connectivity to Dubai, Pokhara is expected to gain access to over 300 global destinations through the airline’s network.

The development is also viewed as a milestone in positioning Pokhara as Nepal’s third international air gateway, raising hopes for increased foreign tourist arrivals and stronger global connectivity.

The ‘Dollar Fare’ (higher airfare) Removed

The ‘Dollar Fare’ (higher airfare) currently charged to foreign nationals and Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) on domestic flights in Nepal is set to be removed in the first phase, starting from the Karnali and the Far West regions.

This move is expected to promote tourism, improve accessibility, and ensure more fair and inclusive air travel across remote parts of the country.
